Pleasantville native Jon Craig is special editor for the Westchester, Putnam, Rockland, Orange and Dutchess Daily Voice sites. He is also the primary reporter for Daily Voice Plus Politics in Westchester and Fairfield.

Jon graduated from Cornell University and received his master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University. Across a 35-year career, he's worked as a reporter for daily newspapers in Chicago, New York, Ohio & Washington, D.C and as managing editor for weekly newspapers in Rye, White Plains and Harrison.

Jon also writes periodically for the Cornell Chronicle.

Police ID Electric Scooter Rider Struck, Killed On Route 1 A 22-year-old man on an electric scooter was struck and killed along Route 1 in Edison, authorities said. Raul Montoya-Chavez, of Edison, was hit in the southbound center lane of Route 1 at about 1:45 a.m. on Wednesday, May 15 as he tried to cross at Plainfield Avenue, Edison police said. Montoya-Chavez died of his injuries at an area hospital, police said. The 61-year-old Rahway man driving the SUV had a green light and is not expected to be charged, police said.

Florence's Timothy Lloyd Enjoyed Playing Santa Claus, 52 Timothy P. Lloyd, of Florence, died on May 4 with his family at his side, according to an obituary published by Mathis Funeral Home. He was 52 years old. Tim worked with the Florence School District as an assistant to the special education teachers, his obituary said. "His patience with children was unwavering and he was always around with helping hands for whatever was needed," his obit said. Vineland's Luis 'Louie' Mattei Loved Singing, 56 Luis "Louie" Mattei, of Vineland, died on May 11 at Genesis Healthcare Center, according to an obituary published by DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home. He was 56 years old. Luis was a 1986 graduate of Arthur P. Shalick High School, his obituary said. He enjoyed the company of his family and friends listening to Spanish and Club music while playing dominoes, his obit said. Fishing with his parents was an enjoyable outing that he loved, his obit said. "Luis would sing and laugh with family on any occasion," his obituary said. Driver Charged In High-Speed South Jersey Crash That Killed 20-Year-Old Passenger: Prosecutor A 20-year-old driver from Pennsauken has been charged in connection with a high-speed crash that killed his passenger last month, authorities said. NJ Man Sentenced In Case In Which GF's Daughter Was Paralyzed, Blinded By Beating: Prosecutor A Vineland man has been sentenced to three years in New Jersey State Prison on a third-degree child endangerment charge in the case of a 4-year-old girl who was left paralyzed and blind by a beating, authorities said. Ricardo A. Ferrera, 30, was sentenced last week, according to the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office. Jumper Survives Plunge Off Victory Bridge In Central Jersey: Police A person who jumped from the Victory Bridge in Middlesex County miraculously survived on Wednesday, May 15, Daily Voice has learned. Marine units from Perth Amboy, Woodbridge, and the New Jersey State Police responded to the bridge that brings Route 35 over the Raritan River around 3:30 p.m., Sayreville Police Lt. Ax-Wielding Man Who Forced Ex-GF Into Sex Heads To NJ State Slammer, Prosecutor Says A hatchet-wielding 50-year-old man who forced an ex-girlfriend to have sex was sentenced to 25 years in New Jersey State Prison, authorities said. Julio Sigurani, Jr., of Deerfield, was sentenced on Monday, May 13, according to Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-Mcrae.
