This is a step in the process of an infrastructure process, which will see Main Street also become home to two-way traffic in 2018.
“A great deal of work went into researching and planning this move and we are confident this is the best thing, not only for the thriving businesses in the area, but residents as well,” Hackensack Mayor John Labrosse said.
“One-way streets are detrimental to these type of mixed residential and commercial centers and two-way traffic will also benefit pedestrians and bicyclists.”
Hackensack’s Main Street is undergoing a nearly $1 billion revitalization over the next several years, which includes thousands of new housing units and many major commercial developments.
The goal is to make the city a destination and the cultural economic center of Bergen County.
