HACKENSACK, N.J. — A downed power line ignited a fire Monday afternoon that destroyed two vans and damaged the siding of a Hackensack home, authorities said.

No injuries were reported in the 1:15 p.m. Byrne Street blaze, city Fire Lt. Justin Derevyanik told Daily Voice.

Firefighters had to wait for PSE&G crews to de-energize the power line before they could apply water.

The fire was extinguished by 2:10 p.m.

The house sustained some smoke damage, Derevyanik said.
