South Hackensack Police: Ex-Con Set Rental Truck Fire Next To School

SOUTH HACKENSACK, N.J. -- Authorities charged an ex-con with setting a fire that damaged four party rental company vehicles barely 10 feet from a South Hackensack school on Tuesday.

Surveillance video captured Jose A. Lopez, 45 -- who had just started a warehouse job with the company next door -- setting the fire, Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal said.

The blaze damaged two trucks and two trailers behind 450 Huyler Street. near South Hackensack Memorial School, authorities said.

Lopez was being held on $60,000 bail, charged with aggravated arson, following an investigation by South Hackensack police and the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit.
