PARAMUS, N.J. – A Paramus driver wearing an “NYPD” t-shirt had a suspended license, no paperwork for his car, an outstanding warrant – and pot in the vehicle, said Rochelle Park police who stopped him.
Officer Brian Gallina pulled over the 2010 white Civic on West Passaic Street near Faifield Drive just after 11:30 p.m. Sunday, Lt. Dean Pinto told Daily Voice. Backup Officer Brian Cobb joined him soon afterward, Pinto said.
Gallina quickly smelled raw marijuana, leading to a search that turned up a bag of the drug, as well as paraphernalia and 26-year-old Albert J. Cohen’s history, the lieutenant said.
Cohen was released pending a hearing on drug and paraphernalia possession charges. Police in Verona also released him without bail on their warrant.
