BEYOND BERGEN: A homeless man who police said grabbed a 10-year-old girl’s butocks at the Port Authority bus terminal in Manhattan was arrested 83 times before over the past 25 years, records show.
Willie Hanford, 44, has been convicted of 78 charges in that time — six of them felonies and one a violent felony, the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo said.
The New York City victim was walking behind her mother when Hanford grabbed her on the southwest main concourse around 6:30 p.m. yesterday, the Port Authority’s Joseph Pentangelo said.
She screamed and the mother followed him a short distance before Port Authority police officers responded, he said.
Hanford ran into a nearby drug store and was quickly taken into custody, Pentangelo said.
At nearly the same time, a second victim came up and said that Hanford had swiped her pocketbook a half-hour earlier at the corner of Eight Avenue and 39th Street, he said.
The 26-year-old upstate New York victim said she followed him to the terminal.
Officers found Harris carrying the stolen purse, Pentangelo said.
They charged him with first-degree sexual abuse, child endangerment and grand larceny.
