The boy was taken into custody at his home this morning and released to his mother following an investigation that involved both the FBI and the CIA, the prosecutor said.
Forensic evidence from devices seized by Computer Crimes Unit detectives could yield additional delinquency complaints, he said.
"A separate and independent investigation initiated by the New Albany, Ind., Police Department identified 'J.C.' as a suspect in several “swatting” incidents in their jurisdiction," Molinelli said.
The calls were made from his home, the prosecutor said.
The results of that investigation "are pending at this time and charges related to crimes committed in that jurisdiction are expected to be filed shortly," he said.
The delinquency complaints filed in Hackensack this morning involve making terroristic threats.
