HACKENSACK, N.J. -- Maria Elena Ruggiero Bordonaro, of South Hackensack, N.J., died Tuesday, Dec. 29. She was 83.
Prior to retiring, Bordonaro was a supervisor for Goldberg Slipper Factory in Hackensack.
She was a member of the Scoglitti Social Club in Elmwood Park, the South Hackensack Senior Citizens Group. She was a parishioner of St. Francis Roman Catholic Church, Hackensack and a member of its St. Padre Pio prayer group.
Bordonaro was predeceased by her husband, Sebastiano Bordonaro in 2001.
She is survived by her daughter, Nellie Tomic (John), of Paramus, NJ.; grandchildren, Joseph and Nicole; step-grandchildren, John Tomic Jr. and family; brother, Anthony Ruggiero (Connie), of Totowa, sister, Carmela Ruggiero (Angelo), of Italy, brother, Christopher Ruggiero (Anna), of Italy, sister, Lucia Ruggiero (Nele), of Italy.
She was predeceased by a sister; predeceased by Angela Sudano.
Visitation is Wednesday from 1 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Thomas Gentile Funeral Service, 397 Union St., Hackensack, N.J.
The funeral will be Thursday, Dec. 31 at 8:15 a.m., at the funeral home, to Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Francis Roman Catholic Church, 50 Lodi St., Hackensack.
Burial will follow at Hackensack Cemetery
