HACKENSACK, N.J. — City officials up for re-election sent a mailer to voters before the start of a 90-day ban on such newsletters, NorthJersey.com reports.

The mailer highlights the accomplishments of Mayor John Labrosse and his deputy, Kathleen Canestrino, who are running in the May 9 non-partisan election, the article says.

Rival Caseen Gaines, who was accused of distributing election material on school grounds, brought the case to the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office, according to NorthJersey.com.
