The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for parts of the area, including eastern Bergen and Passaic counties.

The advisory is in effect from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday, which will be a partly sunny day with a chance showers and thunderstorms.

A Heat Advisory is issued when the combination of heat and humidity is expected to make it feel like it is 95 to 99 degrees for two or more consecutive days, or 100 to 104 degrees for any length of time.

The combination of heat and humidity will increase the risk for heat-related health issues, especially for the elderly, as well as those working outdoors.

Use air conditioning to stay cool at home or work, or go to a place that has air conditioning, says the National Weather Service, adding residents should check on vulnerable friends, family members and neighbors.

After a chance of morning showers and storms, Wednesday will be partly sunny and cooler with a high in the upper-70s.

Thursday will be a delightful day with sunny skies and a high again in the upper-70s.
