"People are reacting to the forecast, whether its a hurricane or snow storm," Stop and Shop's Director of Communications Jim Keenoy said. "They want to stock up and have enough food and necessities for the duration of the storm."

Keenoy, a 45-year veteran of the business, said he's seen enough storms to know to plan ahead.

"My house is already pretty stocked up," Keenoy said.

Google Maps showed many stores across Bergen County reaching above their peak business hours due to so many flocking to stores for goods.
