HACKENSACK, N.J. — Great things are on the horizon for Hackensack's newest fitness facility, Great White Crossfit.
Just more than two years after opening the gym in Paramus, Steve and Tara Ramos of Lyndhurst have moved into a bigger space — 7,000 square feet — on Hobart Street Hackensack.
The husband and wife had been working as personal trainers at 24 Hour Fitness in Paramus, but wanted to further their passion for Crossfit when they opened in May 2014.
The space quickly became too small for their growing community, and as of this week, Great White members are calling their new Hackensack location "home."
"Great White Crossfit is my second family," member Lily Guale said. "I feel welcomed every time I walk through the front door.”
Guale had never worked out prior to joining Great White. All she wanted when she joined was a structured fitness plan.
Her gym has become so much more than just that, though.
"My coaches clearly have my best interest in mind and they don’t want anything less than to see me succeed," she said.
Merely being in Great White brings member Sal Ferraro a sense of comfort — though at times he's never felt further from his comfort zone.
"I have done things that I never would have guessed I could, among people that are so supportive they feel like family," he said.
"I have become addicted to being there."
"Great White takes Crossfit and makes it even better . Better workouts, better people, better coaches all combined to make it my favorite place in the whole world.”
