BERGEN COUNTY, N.J. -- County Engineer Joseph Fernia has been named the acting director of the Department of Planning and Engineering, according to County Executive James Tedesco.
Femia will continue to serve as the statutorily designated County Engineer, a position he has held since 2008.
“With nearly thirty years of experience in engineering and planning, Joe has the skills and knowledge to lead this department," Tedesco said in a statement. "As County Engineer for the last eight years, he knows his talented and professional team better than anyone.”
Femia said he is grateful to take on his new role.
“The Department of Planning and Engineering will play a vital role in the future of our county for decades to come," Femia said. "I look forward to helping chart the course for responsible development by overseeing collaborative planning and engineering on projects throughout Bergen County.”
