HACKENSACK, N.J. -- The Bergen County Freeholders unanimously passed a resolution to provide $55,000 to New Hope Foundation, Inc.
The grant, awarded through the Bergen County Department of Health Office of Alcohol and Drug Dependency, will allow approximately 56 Bergen County residents to receive 4-5 days of detox followed by up to 23-24 days of short-term rehabilitation services.
“With this resolution, this Freeholder Board upholds its commitment to fighting the heroin epidemic here in Bergen County,” Freeholder Chairman Steve Tanelli said in a statement. “The disease of addiction affects Bergen County residents of all walks of life, regardless of age, race, or gender, as well as their friends and families who search desperately for treatment."
In addition to helping adults, the resolution also allows treatment for adolescents age 13-17.
