Police at one point stopped traffic on both sides of the parkway before reopening the northbound side around 1:20 p.m., nearly an hour after the crash at milepost 168.8 on the southbound side.

Woodcliff Lake and Montvale firefighters had to cut the 20-year-old Monsey woman from the Hyundai Sonata.

Emergency workers at the scene said she apparently had a broken foot, among other injuries, but was conscious and alert.

Authorities closed down both sides of the highway so that AirMed One could land just after 1 p.m. By 1:30, the chopper was back in the air on its way to the hospital.

In addition to the AirMed One crew, responders included Montvale and Woodcliff Lake police and firefighters, New Jersey State Police, Tri-Boro Ambulance and paramedics from The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood.
