HACKENSACK, N.J. – A truck driver from Newark faces sex charges after authorities said he inappropriately touched a young girl.
Javier Montecinos, 49, remained held on $150,000 bail, charged with aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault and child endangerment.
The state Division of Child Protection and Permanency alerted Hackensack police in mid-June, acting Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal said Thursday.
City police notified Grewal’s Special Victims Unit and a joint investigation followed, he said.
Montecinos surrendered to city police on Tuesday.
An Aug. 15 first appearance was scheduled in Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack.
