Tragic accident claims life of Saddle Brook tradesman

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: Timothy Costanzo, a 51-year-old construction tradesman, was killed when his motorcycle veered across a bridge over Route 80 in Saddle Brook, hit an oncoming vehicle and then struck a cement wall.

He leaves a wife, two twin daughters in 6th grade and a third daughter in 4th.

Costanzo, of Skillman Terrace in Saddle Brook, was pronounced dead at Hackensack University Medical Center after crashing his 2007 Kawasaki Vulcan Classic Motorcycle around 7:10 p.m. Saturday, Police Chief Robert Kugler said.

Costanzo was headed south on Mayhill Street just south of Rochelle Parkway when he lost control of the motorcycle on the incline over the bridge, Kugler said.

The bike crossed the northbound lane before hitting the northbound vehicle, the chief said. It then crashed into the wall, he said. Police today at the scene (CLIFFVIEWPILOT.COM PHOTO)



Saddle Brook police are investigating, along with the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Accident Investigation Unit and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

Born in Paterson, “Goomba” Costanzo was raised in Garfield before moving to Saddle Brook nine years ago. He was a laborer for 15 years with both the NY Cement & Concrete Workers District Council in Flushing and the NJ Laborers Union Local 153 in Newark.
