The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office was assisting city detectives in some of the incidents, including the shooting death of a 20-year-old city man on North Main Street overnight Friday into Saturday.

Among other things, they were trying to determine whether warfare among rival drug gangs was responsible.

The 32-year-old woman who was struck around 11:10 p.m. Saturday on Sandy Court near Temple Street remained in stable condition at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, Police Director Jerry Speziale told Daily Voice Sunday night.

Detectives also were following up on a 4 a.m. Sunday shooting near the corner of Carroll and Harrison streets, he said.

Another shooting, this one at 2:25 a.m. Thursday at Oxford and North 8th streets, left a 22-year-old man with several wounds in his upper torso, Speziale said.

He remained in critical condition at St. Joe's, the director said.

Police responded to “shots fired” from the city’s ShotSpotter gunfire detection system, as well as subsequent calls from citiziens, Speziale said.

"At this time it appears that the victim was in the area of the park at that location when some type of altercation ensued and shots were fired," he said.

As of late Sunday, 13 shootings were reported in the city in a span of a little over three weeks -- increasing this year's total to 53.
