Smokey Kitchen Clears Maywood's Oak Ale House

MAYWOOD, N.J. — The Oak Ale House in Maywood was evacuated Monday evening as firefighters worked to clear smoke from the kitchen.

An employee told Daily Voice that "burned food and steam" set off the alarm.

"It'll be clear in five minutes," the employee added.

Patrons gathered behind the building and on the front sidewalk as firefighters worked to clear the restaurant.

"We were just eating and then all of a sudden the fire alarm went off," said a couple standing outside waiting to return to their meal.
