A judge ordered Nicholas R. Bleeker, 24, held in the Bergen County Jail pending an Oct. 6 hearing on robbery and weapons charges, Police Chief Robert J. Kugler said.

Detective Lt. Thomas Johnson, and Detectives John Tritto and Scott Habermann cracked the case after the Delta stastion on Floral Lane was robbed of $565 cash by Bleeker just after 9:30 p.m. Aug. 4, Kugler said.

"Surveillance video and additional evidence was recovered from the scene and surrounding area," the chief said, adding that "tireless and exhaustive efforts" by the detectives identified Bleeker.

"I can't stress enough that video cameras have become one of the greatest resources for homeowners and business owners alike -- but also are worth their weight in gold for law enforcement in assisting us in the investigation of crimes," he said.

"They don't have to be a high-end expensive surveillance system," Kugler said. "The $200 dollar devices, such as the RING video doorbell and other products, can work just as well."

"We intend to initiate a local push for a confidential database of privately owned business and homeowner video surveillance systems that we will use to effectively solve crimes and make our community safer," the chief added.
