ROCHELLE PARK, N.J. -- An enraged 28-year-old Rockland motorist beat another driver in the parking lot of a Rochelle Park 7-Eleven, then hit him with his BMW before fleeing, authorities said.
Rochelle Park detectives tracked down Michael Santo after the victim captured images of both him and the license plate of his car, Detective Sgt. James DePreta said.
Santo, of Pomona in Ramapo, surrendered to borough police and was charged with simple assault and assault by auto. He also received several summonses and was released pending a court hearing, DePreta said.
Several witnesses told police that Santo got out of his car in the convenience store parking lot and "repeatedly struck the [other] driver" with a closed fist, then got back into the Beamer and hit him with the car, knocking the victim to the ground, the sergeant said.
"The victim was transported to an area hospital to care for his injuries, which appeared limited to cuts and abrasions," DePreta said.
