Police: Son With Knife Tries To Kill Teaneck Dad After Breaking Into Home

TEANECK, N.J. -- A transient broke into his father's Teaneck home through a basement window and slashed him with a knife several times in his bedroom in an attempt to kill him, authorities said.

Corey M. Campbell, 34,was ordered held on $1 million bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with attempted murder aggravated assault, burglary and weapons offenses.

His father was restraining Campbell when responding officers arrived at the Voorhees Street home just after 7 a.m. Thursday, Police Chief Robert Carney said.

Campbell, who been lving at the Ridgefield Park Hampton Inn on Route 46, "was disarmed and taken into custody without incident," Carney said.

He'd been carrying four knives and a box cutter, he said.

Campbell's father was released from Holy Name Medical Center after being treated for several cuts, most only his back, the chief said.
