Hackensack PD: Jaywalker Hospitalized After Being Hit By Truck

HACKENSACK, N.J. — A pickup truck struck a man accused of jaywalking Tuesday night in Hackensack, sending him to the hospital.

A Hackensack man who was jaywalking was issued a summons and transported to the hospital after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday evening, police said.

Daniel Gallagher, 57, was crossing South River Street mid-block and outside of the crosswalk when he was struck by the northbound pickup, driven by a 45-year-old New Milford man around 6:15 p.m., Capt. Brian Corcoran said.

The city volunteer ambulance corps to took him to Hackensack University Medical Center, where he was admitted to the trauma unit, said Corcoran, the commander of the police Traffic Bureau.

Gallagher was issued a summons for jaywalking, he said.
