HACKENSACK, N.J. -- Participants in the Bergen County Sheriff Youth Law Enforcement Leadership Academy stopped by the Hackensack Fire Department headquarters on Thursday to experience emergency responder scenarios.

Members of fire department and EMS assisted with the situations, including searching for "victims" using breathing apparatus, learning how thermal imagining cameras work and helping firefighters locate victims. Participants also learned how EMS provides care and toured headquarters.

"It's always great to assist other departments with programs," said Deputy Chief J. Ingallinera, "and the looks on the students' faces shows how happy they were with the experience."

For more info about the program, contact the Sheriff's Office at 201-646-2200.
