Officer Brian Gallina pulled over the 2010 white Civic on West Passaic Street near Faifield Drive just after 11:30 p.m. Sunday, Lt. Dean Pinto told Daily Voice. Backup Officer Brian Cobb joined him soon afterward, Pinto said.

Gallina quickly smelled raw marijuana, leading to a search that turned up a bag of the drug, as well as paraphernalia and 26-year-old Albert J. Cohen’s history, the lieutenant said.

Cohen was released pending a hearing on drug and paraphernalia possession charges. Police in Verona also released him without bail on their warrant.
