Although no New Milford High School students were on the bus, others were waiting to cross Madison Avenue to the athletic fields when the Honda CRV driven by Heather Dolinsky hit the bus near the corner of Milford Avenue (Cecchino Drive) at 9:15 a.m., Detective Sgt. Kevin Van Saders told Daily Voice.

Officers found Dolinsky behind the wheel, drunk, Van Saders said.

She failed field sobriety tests and was arrested, then gave breath samples at headquarters, he said.

The Honda was impounded for a mandatory 12 hours.

Dolinsky, meanwhile, was released to a family member pending a Municipal Court hearing on charges of:

  • Failure to Maintain Lane
  • Creating the Risk of an Accident
  • Failure to Yield to Pedestrians at a Crosswalk
  • Driving While Intoxicated
  • Driving While Intoxicated in a School Zone
  • Reckless Driving
