The attendant at the Shell station on the corner of Maywood Avenue and Passaic Street described the robber as black, about 5-foot-10 and stocky, with the hood of a black sweatshirt pulled over his head, blue jeans and black shoes.
The robber approached him with a kitchen knife around quarter to 5 and demanded money, the attendant told police.
He said he pulled a roll of cash from his pocket, which the robber took off with, running on East Passaic Street before cutting down Fairway.
