MAYWOOD, N.J. – An 84-year-old Maywood man was charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving a serious injury to a bicyclist struck Sunday afternoon , authorities said.
Roland F. Weigel took off after his Ford Expedition struck the 43-year-old Hackensack bicyclist at the intersection of East Passaic Street and Golf Avenue just before 1:30 p.m., Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal said.
Witnesses said Weigel bailed out and left the car.
