ALERT: A 27-year-old pedestrian remained hospitalized in serious condition as authorities searched for the driver who fled the scene after hitting her in the driveway of a Fort Lee parking garage last night.

Investigators said they’re looking for a black, four-door Toyota Camry — from 1997-1999 — that they believe has both passenger-side and front-end damage.

The victim was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center with head and leg injuries after she was struck around 8 p.m. in the driveway of the parking garage for the Northbridge Co-Op Apartments at 2200 N. Central Road, which leads to Hudson Terrace a few blocks north of the George Washington Bridge.

“We thought she was dead,” one of the first people on the scene told CLIFFVIEW PILOT . “It looks like she was knocked in the air and landed in the driveway.”

Anyone with information that could help the investigation is asked to dial 911 or call:

Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Detective Chris Kelley: (201) 226-5595

Fort Lee Police Officer Armando Gherghetta: (201) 592-3700, ext. 5226
