Rocco Riotto, 84, Of South Hackensack

SOUTH HACKENSACK, N.J. -- Rocco Riotto, of South Hackensack, died Nov. 4. He was 84.

The son of Domenica and Giuseppe Riotto, he was born in Palmi Prov. Reggio Calabria, in 1932. 

He proudly served in the Italian Army during the early 1950s. He was the hardest-working man to anyone who knew him. He loved working for the pure satisfaction that it brought him. He worked in construction all of his life and owned Garden State Curbs & Sidewalks Inc. One of his passions in life was tending to his huge garden with bountiful harvests which he shared with everyone. He loved vacationing in Florida every winter and enjoying his friends. 

He is survived by his wife, Rosa Matina; children, Joseph, Vincent and his wife Deirdre, Josephine and her husband Salvatore Arena and Anthony and his wife Rosa; grandchildren, Nicole Rozewski and her husband Christopher, Christina Jimenez and her husband Jason, Rocco J. Riotto, Dr. Rosemarie Arena, Stephanie R. Arena, Anthony R. Arena, Sofia Riotto, Emily Riotto and Rocco A. Riotto; and one great-grandchild, Emma. 

The funeral will begin at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday at the G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home, 397 Union St., Hackensack. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. at St. Francis R.C. Church, 50 Lodi St., Hackensack. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Hackensack. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
