Robert Verpent, 61, Of Hackensack

HACKENSACK, N.J. -- Robert Verpent, of Hackensack and formerly of Rutherford, died Saturday, Aug. 20. He was 61. 

Before retiring, he worked for Warren George Inc. in Jersey City as an environmental well driller. He was a member of United Brotherhood of Carpenters Local #1556 in New York City. 

He was the husband of Kathleen (nee Lynch); father Melissa Flaherty and her husband Brent of Waukesha, Wis., Robert Verpent and his wife Leticia of Franklin and Amanda Lipinski and her husband Gregory of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii; grandfather of Liam, Mackenzie and Olivia; son of Frances Verpent (nee Moran) and the late Robert Verpent (1996); and brother of Karen Mullen and her husband Michael and Mary Reilly and her husband William. 

The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 113 S. Farview Ave., Paramus. There will be a funeral service at 7 p.m. Tuesday  at the funeral home. Cremation will be private.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions in his memory may be made in lieu of flowers to the John Theurer Cancer Center, 92 Second St., Hackensack, NJ 07601.
