Louis Del Vecchio, 85, South Hackensack Native

HACKENSACK, N.J. -- Louis Del Vecchio, 85, of Vernon Township and a South Hackensack native, died Nov. 9 at the Hackensack Medical Center.

The son of the late Silvio and Amelia Del Vecchio, Del Vecchio served with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War and then worked as a roofer and sider for many years and retried from the Valley Brook Golf Course in Paramus, as a range officer.

Del Vecchiowas predeceased by a sister, Sylvia Uzzalino and a brother, Eugene Del Vecchio.

He is survived by his wife Monica Del Vecchio (nee Carlucci); sons Lous Del Vecchio; Lonnie Del Vecchio; Kenneth (Debra); daughter Bobi Jo McLachlan (Scott); daughter Diona Canal (Moises), his sister Marie Castellano (Al); and sister-in-law, Joan Del Vecchio, and eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

The family will receive friends from 3-7 p.m. Thursday at the Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home, 241 Route 94 (1 Vanderhoof Court for GPS), Vernon, N.J. Funeral service will commence at the funeral home after the visitation.. Cremation is private.
