Kenneth Ambros, 91, Of Maywood And Formerly Of Hackensack

MAYWOOD, N.J. -- Kenneth Ambros, 91, of Maywood and formerly of Hackensack, passed away Sunday, Dec. 13, 2015.

Born in Argentina, Ambros followed the American dream by moving to the United States in 1962 where he worked hard and eventually opened ABC Appliance in Hackensack in 1964, retiring in 1990.

After his retirement, he volunteered for 15 years at Hackensack University Medical Center and then continued to work in guest services at the hospital for eight years before retiring in 2008. He was a member of Basilio Scientific Schoo in New York City.

He was the husband of 68 years to Elisa Ambros (nee Vazquez).

He is survived by his children, Ana Ambros, of Hackensack, and Nora Ambros-Cerna and her husband Ossie Cerna, of Maywood; grandchildren, Steven Santos, Erik Santos, Jennifer Wilson, Christine Santos and Kimberley Maldonado; and great-grandchildren, Jayla Santos, Victoria Santos, Phoenix Santos and Mya Wilson.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home 113 S. Farview Ave., Paramus. There will be a funeral Service at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home, Paramus. Interment will be in Hackensack Cemetery.
