Josephine Reitsma, 73, Former Hackensack Resident

FAIR LAWN, N.J. -- Josephine Reitsma, of Fair Lawn, died on Sunday, Feb. 12. She was 73.

Born in Ritzville, Washington, Reitsma was raised in Hackensack and lived there until she moved to Fair Lawn, over 35 years ago. 

She was a secretary with Mack Management in Fort Lee for 35 years and was still active until the time of her passing. "Josephine especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends," information from the funeral home noted, and she was "still active until the time of her passing."

Reitsma is survived by her partner, Andrew Nudge; sisters Judith Greenwald and her husband Bob, and Edona Alvaro and her husband Bill; sisters-in-law Sherry Gilio and Carol Stern; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded by her husband, Robert Reitsma; brother Domenick Gilio; and parents Joseph and Mary (Ruhlman) Gilio.

A funeral mass was celebrated on Thursday morning, Feb. 16, at Sacred Heart Church, in Rochelle Park. Interment was in Fair Lawn Memorial Cemetery, in Fair Lawn. The Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, in Fair Lawn, assisted with arrangements.
