HACKENSACK, N.J. -- John R Ponzo, of Hackensack, died on Dec. 18. He was 87.
Ponzo served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. For 25 years, he was a butcher at Shop-Rite in Hasbrouck Heights and retired in 1985 at the age of 55.
He is survived by his wife, Anita T.; children, John Joseph Ponzo and the late Robert Michael Ponzo; granddaughter, Jessica Ponzo; and great-grandchild, Mykel Ponzo; and siblings, Rose Speroni, Nancy Armitage and the late Michael Ponzo and Richard Pozno.
Visitation is 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22 at Kimak Funeral Home, 425 Broad St., East Rutherford. Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, Dec. 22, in St. Joseph’ s R.C. Church, at 1 p.m. Entombment at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Mrs. Ponzo requests that NO flowers be sent to the funeral home.
