MAYWOOD, N.J. -- Harry Kuhles, formerly of Maywood died on Thursday, Dec. 10. He was 89.
Before retiring, Maywood was a Police Sergeant with the Maywood Police Department. He was a former member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Maywood, served as a team leader of "Engaged and Marriage Encounter" weekends for the Archdiocese of Newark, was one of the founders of the Bergen Bowmen and was active in Alzheimer's support groups in both New Jersey and Texas.
Maywood was an Army Air Corps veteran.
He was predeceased by Therese (Stulb).
He is survived by his children Joan Sabino and her husband Alfred of Montgomery, Texas, Virginia Otto and her husband Arthur of The Woodlands, Texas, John Kuhles and his wife Natalie of Readington, Mary Sabino of Dover, Del., James Kuhles and his wife Tracy of Long Valley, Elizabeth Heiney and her husband Robert of The Woodlands, Texas and William Kuhles and his wife Linda of Aberdeen.
He is also survived by his 19 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, Dec. 17, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. 9 p.m. at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home inParamus.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, Dec. 18 at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 92 Burton Avenue in Hasbrouck Heights. Interment will be in George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.
