Florence E. Adler, 95, Formerly Of Hackensack

HACKENSACK, N.J. -- Florence E. Adler, a resident of Denville and formerly of Hackensack, died Thursday, May 19. She was 95.

Born in Garfield, she lived in Hackensack for many years and lived in Denville for four years. She is the daughter of the late Wendell and Anna.

Prior to retiring, she was a principal and educator for the Garfield Board of Education. She was a parishioner of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church of Hackensack, where she served as a trustee, eucharistic minister, catechist, and a member of the parish council, liturgical and parish finance committees.

She was a former parishioner of Holy Name Roman Catholic Church in Garfield, where she served as a trustee. She was a member of Older is Better at Felician College in Lodi, St. Anthony's Guild, St. Anthony of Padua Society and St. Francis Friends of the Poor, all of New York City.

She is survived by her brother, Wendell Adler Jr. and his wife Mildred, of Milford, Pa.; nephews, Douglas Adler and his wife Tricia of Dingmans Ferry, Pa., and Wendell Adler III and his wife Patty of Fair Lawn; godchildren, Joan McComas and her husband Bill of Denville and Laura Zelenka and her husband Jerry of Clifton; and both goddaughters' children, Elena and her husband Tim and their child Aisling, Luke and his girlfriend Amanda, Michael and wife Margaret and their children Isabel and Maverick, John, and Chrissy and boyfriend Aaron.

A Mass of Christian burial was scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, May, 23, at the Holy Trinity Church, 34 Maple Ave., Hackensack. Burial was to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Saddle Brook.
