Eugene Casimir, 86, Of South Hackensack

SOUTH HACKENSACK, N.J. -- Eugene "Gene" Casimir, 86, of South Hackensack, passed away peacefully July 29, 2016.

He was the husband to his wife of 57 years, Marie; father of daughters, Bonnie Dallara and her husband Gene of Hasbrouck Heights and Lynn Sodora of Dingmans Ferry, Pa.; and grandfather of Stephanie Dallara, Danielle Dallara and Samantha Sodora. He also is survived by his brother, Stanley Godlesky and his wife, Mildred and nieces Anastasia Zinkerman and Kathy Godlesky.

He was born in Paterson and spent much of his youth in Dunellen, later graduating from Dunellen High School. He was a graduate of Rutgers School of Law and was admitted to the bar in Washington D.C. in 1952.

He served as a sergeant in the Korean War from 1952-54 and was admitted to the New Jersey bar in 1955. He served as prosecutor for Middlesex Borough from 1963-66 and South Hackensack from 1971-74. He also served as a Municipal Court judge for South Hackensack from 1974-79 and 1995-98 and acting judge for the city of Hackensack from 1975-79. He practiced law for more than 50 years in Hackensack and was highly respected among his colleagues, known for his honesty, fairness and sound legal advice.

He was a beloved and respected member of his community and church, as well as a proud honorary member of the South Hackensack V.F.W.

There will be a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Church, 49 Vreeland Ave., Hackensack. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-9 Tuesday at the G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Service, 397 Union St., Hackensack.
