MAYWOOD, N.J. -- Edward A. Sylan, 92, of Maywood for more than 60 years and formerly of Jersey City, passed away July 5, 2016.
Sylan served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a life member of the American Legion Post 142 in Maywood. For 50 years, he was a machinist at Bendix in Teterboro and retired at the age of 65. He was a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics and went to the Teaneck Armory every Wednesday to fly his model planes.
He was the father of Bonnie Lisa and her husband Richard; grandfather of Keith Michael Lisa and his fiancee Brooke Biernacki and Craig E. Lisa and his wife Denise; brother of the late Lillian Buysman; and companion of Helen Gartman.
There will be a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Kimak Funeral Home, 425 Broad St., Carlstadt. Cremation will be in the East Ridgelawn Crematory in Clifton.
Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
