ROCHELLE PARK, N.J. – Edward Joseph Gronek, of Rochelle Park, died Monday, Oct. 19 at the New Jersey Veterans Home in Paramus. He was 93.
Gronek was born in Garfield, and lived in Lodi before moving to Rochelle Park.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, earning the Philippine Liberation Medal with two Bronze Stars, the Asiatic-Pacific Medal with the Bronze Stars and the American Theater Victory Medal.
After his service, he worked as an assembly machinist for Sun Chemical Company in Rutherford, retiring in 1984.
He was predeceased by his wife Jane and five siblings, and is survived by son Gerald and his wife Nancy of Hillsdale, daughter Marlene Kennedy of Gulf Shore, Ala., five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, and sister Florence Saczawa of Mahwah.
