MAYWOOD, N.J. -- Dora "Dorita" Garay, 93, of Maywood, died Sept. 29.
She was born in the Dominican Republic and came to the U.S.A. in 1968.
For more than 15 years, she worked for St. Peter's University in Jersey City, retiring in 1974 and prior, for more than 30 years, she was a lab technician at Salvador Gautier Hospital in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
She was a devoted member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Hackensack.
She is survived by her children, Sonia M. Prendergast and her husband Michael, Hector I. Echavarria and his wife Valerie and Rebeca E. Ramirez and her husband Gualberto; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and siblings, Lucia Pujols, Romeo Garay, Argentina Chang and the late Enrique Garay, Francisco Garay and Luz Marte.
There will be a funeral service at 10 a.m. Monday at the Kimak Funeral Home, 425 Broad St., Carlstadt. Interment will be in George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
