Third Time's A Charm: Paramus Pipe Cracks Under Pressure

PARAMUS, N.J. — A 64-year-old cast-iron pipe along Route 17 is being replaced after it cracked in the same spot for the third time in two years, PSE&G announced.

The 12-inch pipe became brittle after decades of freezing and thawing, the company said. Nearby construction may have contributed to the break in the pipe, almost 4,000 miles long, PSE&G said.
