Report: Five Bergen, Passaic Hospitals Rank Among Best In NJ

HACKENSACK, N.J. – Four hospitals in Bergen County and one in Passaic County made U.S. News and World Report’s 2017 list of 24 best hospitals in New Jersey, including Hackensack University Medical Center which came in at number one.

The magazine ranked all 24 top hospitals as “high performing” in at least two areas such as heart bypass surgery and lung surgery.

Here are the Bergen and Passaic County hospitals on the list, their rankings, and the areas in which they excel, according to the magazine.

  • 24: Holy Name Medical Center in Teaneck (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Heart Failure)
  • 13: (tie) St. Joseph’s Healthcare System in Paterson (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Colon Cancer Surgery, Heart Failure)
  • 13: (tie) Englewood Hospital and Medical Center (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Colon Cancer Surgery, Heart Failure)
  • 5: (tie) Valley Hospital in Ridgewood (Aortic Valve Surgery, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Colon Cancer Surgery, Heart Bypass Surgery, Heart Failure, Knee Replacement, Lung Cancer Surgery)
