Bergen County’s Division On Disability Services Receives $10,000 Grant

HACKENSACK, N.J. -- Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco has announced that the county's Division on Disability Services has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the Henry A. Kessler Foundation.

The grant will be used to increase programs and activities that are part of the division's four weekly Post Stroke and Disabled Adult support groups. These programs include group discussions, activities geared to promote personal fitness, arts and crafts, ceramics, trivia games, exercises, physical therapy, music and reminiscence sessions, guest speakers and periodic recreational outings.

The four weekly support groups meet at the following locations and times:
  • Englewood -- Fridays, 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Southeast Center for Independent Living, 228 Grand Ave., Englewood.
  • Ridgewood -- Tuesdays, noon-2 p.m., Village Hall, council chambers conference room on the fourth floor, 131 Maple Ave., Ridgewood.
  • Maywood -- Thursdays, 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Maywood Senior Center, 145 W. Magnolia Ave., Maywood.
  • Englewood -- MS Support Group, third Saturday of each month, 10 a.m. to noon, Ebenezer Baptist Church, 216 Fourth St., Englewood.
