Lauretta, a single father of two girls and local business owner, suffered a stroke on April 14, according to a GoFundMe campaign page set up by Matt Blake.

The campaign garnered nearly $1,000 by Monday afternoon.

“Mr. Lauretta is extremely lucky to be alive, but is currently paralyzed on the right side of his body, and has a long road ahead of him. He is expecting a year long recovery, with months of that time being put toward rehabilitation,” Blake wrote.

“Rick’s current situation has us all heartbroken,” he wrote.

Blake said Lauretta is “always willing to lend a helping hand,” and often donates his time and services to people and organizations in need, such as the local animal shelter and women’s shelter.
