On a GoFundMe page created to raise funds for Memfy Deleon’s funeral, he was remembered as a humble young man, great son, caring brother, and talented baseball player who attended Bergen Community College in Paramus.

On Sunday, Deleon “left the house and told his mother that he was going out with his friends. Unknown to his mother, it was the last time she will see him alive,” the page states. He went to a lake in West Milford, and while swimming, “a terrible accident happened and Memfy did not return home,” the page states.

His body was found Monday morning in Terrace Pond in Wawayanda State Park.

Deleon is survived by his father Johnny, mother Elizabeth and sister Tammy.

More than $4,500 had been raised via the GoFundMe page for his funeral by Wednesday afternoon.
