Maywood Cub Scouts Take First Place In Klondike Derby

MAYWOOD, N.J. -- Webelos Scouts from Cub Scout Pack 1199 took home first place in this year's Klondike Derby in Alpine.

The Three Rivers District of the Northern New Jersey Council of the Boy Scouts of America held the even on on Saturday, Feb. 27.

The Klondike Derby is an annual Boy Scout event started in 1949. Scouts pull a dogsled through six stations testing their Scouting skills in first aid, fire building, shelter building, team building, lashings and navigation.

Zachary Molos, Ruairi O'Connor, Thomas Gehrig, Liam Moyna, Kevin Shepherd and Myles Harrison participated in the event.
