Happy birthday to Jay Della Valle, of Hackensack and Wayne.
The musician, filmmaker and actor was born Aug. 19, 1979 and turns 38 on Saturday.
He was born in Hackensack and grew up in Wayne, where he attended Wayne Valley High School.
He is best known for his documentary "The Glorious Mustache Challenge," and for his role as Sue in the independent feature film, "Mount Joy."
While at New York University, Della Valle played with various bands including The Offbeats and Sex With Strangers. He currently has a new single "Whatever it Takes" under his own label, and performs with Owls & Lions .
"The Glorious Mustache" started in 2006 when he dared some friends to grow a mustache and not shave for one month. He received press and attention from "The Today Show," "Good Morning America," "The New York Times" and others.
This experiment led him to chronicle the experiences of men under 30 in their conquest to revive the "ill-fated" mustache trend.
Della Valle is married with two children and currently resides in Montclair.
