The Teaneck and Woodcliff Lake police departments — along with Hackensack University Medical Center’s Trauma/Surgical Critical Care and Injury Prevention Section, Health Awareness Regional Program (HARP) and AAA — hosted Woodcliff Lake's first CarFit program for seniors earlier this month.

“We were able to better ‘fit’ our senior drivers for maximum comfort and safety in their vehicles," HUMC Injury Prevention Coordinator Meliam Gonzales said.

"All it takes is a 20-minute assessment to enhance their safety as drivers."

CarFit is an educational program that offers older adults the opportunity to check how well their personal vehicles "fit" them.

The CarFit program also provides information and materials on community-specific resources that could improve their safety as drivers, and/or increase their mobility in the community.
