HACKENSACK, N.J. -- Whether it’s a special occasion or simply a lazy Sunday, nothing beats the prized weekend ritual known as brunch. Where else, after all, can you pair gooey pastries and towering Benedicts with endless flutes of mimosas?

Why Go: The inn, a restored mansion that was built in 1818 for John Hopper, is on the New Jersey Register of Historic Places. Used as a restaurant since the mid-1930s, its stately halls are peopled by well-heeled patrons and abundantly decorated with fresh flowers, making for a wonderful ambiance for brunch.

Worth Waking Up For: Carving station with turkey, ham, or prime rib. Fresh fruit. Salads. Omelettes. Bagels. Pancakes. Pasta. Sip your complimentary mimosa outdoors on their patio, or hang out by their cozy fire pit.
